A Spoonful Of Sugar
I can't hate on her, even if peeps think I'm being too critical ... I'm just concerned for her. I think it's great that she's managed to turn her whacky life around, cleaned up her act and appears to be doing very well for herself. That said, I really hope that she is taking care of herself. Trust me, I know it sucks to be cooped up at home all the time but I think it'd be brilliant if Britney just chilled out once in a while ... took the kids to the beach or a playground, hung out with her little sister in Malibu. Believe me, I am greatly relieved that Brit Brit looks like she's having harmless fun hanging out with her cousin, shopping her days away ... I guess that's all that really matters. She really does look great, cowboy hat notwithstanding. As long as Britney is happy I guess we can be happy for her too. [Source]
So far, I've not really commented on the whole Don Imus thing that's been stirring all week long. I'm sure y'all have heard plenty about what the idiot fool said live on the air of his radio/tv show and I'm sure y'all have heard your fill of the fallout from those comments (comments that I have no interest in reproducing here). I had a sneaking feeling that he was going to pay dearly for what he said ... not so much because of what he said (and no, I'm not validating his comments, they were racist, misogynistic and totally uncalled for, but other people have said much worse things in recent months) but because the media just wouldn't relent until the man was fired. First MSNBC fired him and then yesterday afternoon, CBS gave Don Imus his walking papers ... his 30-year long radio show is dunzo:
The chief of CBS Corp. said the furor over Don Imus' racist remarks had escalated beyond mere disgust with the talk show host. But it was Imus who ultimately paid the price. CBS abruptly fired Imus on Thursday from the radio show that he has hosted for nearly 30 years, a day after MSNBC said it would no longer televise it. Imus' description of the Rutgers women's basketball team ... set off a national debate about taste and tolerance. "He has flourished in a culture that permits a certain level of objectionable expression that hurts and demeans a wide range of people," said CBS Corp. chief executive Leslie Moonves in a memo to his staff. "In taking him off the air, I believe we take an important and necessary step not just in solving a unique problem, but in changing that culture, which extends far beyond the walls of our company." I was fairly certain that this maelstrom would not go away until the man was fired. But to tell the truth, I am very surprised that he actually was held accountable for what he said. So many other people are not held to the same strict standard (Isaiah Washington, anyone?) and yet Imus was pretty much nailed to the wall over what he said. It'll be very interesting to see where this takes us ... believe me, I do not condone what he said but I do wonder what this means for free speech on the radio in general. Whoopi Goldberg said it best, I think, when she said: "Once you get on the broadcast stage, yes there's free speech, but there's an obligation that comes with it ... He made an incredibly bad faux pas and he's got to take the heat for it." There are a lot of ignorant things that get said out there on a daily basis ... I just wonder what's gonna happen next. My guess ... Fox News will be offering Don Imus a new job. [Source]
Well now ... it appears that Lance Bass isn't the only bachelor out there who is spending time with possible new love interests ... his ex-boyfriend Reichen Lehmkuhl appears to have already found someone else to help keep him warm at night. Here are pictures of Reichen and his new kissy friend (apparently his name is Ryan Barry and he's nobody famous) at the Hollywood premiere of the new movie Redline (which, apparently, stars nobody famous) ... how appropriate:
On the hotness scale, I think that this new dude is a step up from Lance but on the social ladder ... well, he doesn't even rank. His nostrils are very trimmed so that's a good thing but the pleather jacket has got to go. Has Reichen found love this time around? Will this new dude be following him around like a puppy for the foreseeable future? I guess time will tell. [Source]
Reichen isn't the only dude out there spending time with a new romantic interest ... it appears that Justin Timberlake has also scored himself a new friend. Here are pictures of JT and his new blonde friend emerging separately from a London studio this week where he has been bizzy working with Madonna on her new upcoming album ... the pic of the chick isn't that clear and they've not been photographed actually together but I'm sure they're madly in love:
If you thought he was young, free and single, think again - Justin Timberlake has been seen spending time with a mystery blonde. The tall, thin beauty was snapped leaving the west London studio where JT and Madonna are recording tracks for her upcoming album. A source said: "She was waiting outside the Ladbroke Grove studio for Madonna to leave and as soon as she did at 9.30pm the mystery woman went into the studios. "She stayed for two hours and then Justin left at 1am." Hmmm ... interesting. I love that Maddy won't let JT bring his chicks by the studio when she's around. LOL! [Source]
Speaking of Maddy, here are a couple pics of her majesty trying to make a quick and clandestine exit from her London recording studio:
I'm not sure what all the secrecy is about ... but if she really wanted to disappear from the cameras she should have hidden behind one of her big purses like the Olsen twins are fond of doing. Madonna should be wrapping up work for a while very shortly ... she's due to make her way back to Malawi to do a bit of charity work. It's doubtful that she'll be picking up any new children on this trip but, well, I guess you can never been too sure these days. [Source]
Here are pictures of Kate Moss smoking a cigarette while hanging backwards out of a window where her fiancee Pete Doherty is hovering above her with a guitar:
Yeah, just your typical Thursday night for PeteMoss. [Source]
Lindsay Lohan has made her way to the far East where she appeared at a party called Endless Fun in Tokyo, Japan:
I'm not sure what she's on but she really looks like she's feeling the music. L. Lo claims to have put her hard partying ways behind her ... hopefully she won't be relapsing while she's in Japan. [Source]
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have taken their love affair to the Big Apple ... here's a cute picture of ASHL33N making their way out of Barney's in NYC yesterday afternoon:
Things still look pretty tight between these two ... it's been about a week since they've re-hooked back up and there's no sign that they're slowing down. Yep, it appears that Pete is on lock-down alright. [Source]
Geri Halliwell appears to be following in Madonna's footsteps ... first she has a baby just like Madonna, then she names that baby after Madonna and now she's ready to start writing children's books like Madonna. All the ginger one needs to do now is start dressing like Madonna instead of like an aging, washed up ex-Spice Girl desperately attempting to hold on to her youth and she'll be all set:
Geri Halliwell is to follow in Madonna's footsteps by becoming a children's author. The former Spice Girl, who announced that she was quitting the pop world last year, has been signed up by Macmillan Children's Books. Halliwell branded the heroine of her books, nine-year-old Ugenia Lavender, "the rebirth of Girl Power". The flame-haired former pop star cites Oscar Wilde, CS Lewis and Enid Blyton as her literary influences. The Ugenia Lavender books will include characters like an intimating princess called Posh Vatoria and a fiery chef known as Uncle Gordon. Halliwell said: "One of the greatest gifts in life is actually to love what you do. For me, writing Ugenia Lavender is one of them. When I write these stories about Ugenia I feel like I'm going on an adventure. "I hope Ugenia encourages girls and boys to read. But I wouldn't even dream about being the next JK Rowling." Wait, Geri Halliwell has literary influences? Like, seriously? Well ... I guess that's nice ... I'm sure Oscar Wilde isn't spinning in his grave at all. Hopefully Geri won't follow too closely in Madonna's literary footsteps ... hopefully her books will be good. [Source, Source]
So, you know how Brad Pitt is all hot and stuff ... and how he always looks amazing for a man his age and how he never, ever looks gross? Yeah, those days are over ... here are pics of Bradley on the set of his new movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button:
I know it's just make-up and a fake hair thing on his head ... but the ideal image of him is all ruined. His hot genes can't hold up for long ... he's nearing the half-century mark age-wise. I fear that this image of Brad Pitt isn't too far off from becoming a reality in the not-too-distant future. Eep! [Source]
It must be time for Spring Training or something because Matthew McConaughey has really kicked his work-out regiment into high gear. He's not pissing around merely with all that pansy-assed yoga anymore ... he is now workin' out with the serious machinery:
Wow ... it looks like someone's got something to prove. Is he turning 40 this year or something? [Source]
Aww ... it's always so sad when a big and famous celebrity finds themselves on hard times. It was bad enough when the poor actor who starred in Eragon went from workin' the big screen to workin' a construction site but the sight of a former Backstreet Boy engaged in actual manual labor is just ... sad. Here are pictures of former BSBer Kevin Richardson in a new line of work:
Hee hee, I'm just kidding ... actually, Kevin is hard at work building a recording studio, Ronin Studios, which he co-owns ... so he must be doing very well for himself right? But the question remains, why is he at all involved with all that hard work? Shouldn't he be hiring needy people to be doing all this dirty work for him? I bet Aaron Carter could use a job. Holly Madison, Hugh Hefner's #1 Playboy Bunny, is the latest celeb to take all of her clothes off for PETA's I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign:
Funny, I was under the impression that Holly would go naked for something as simple as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ... but I'm sure the sentiment and her animal rights convictions are just as strong. [Source]
And finally ... it would seem that headbands are becoming the new "it" accessory this Spring ... only the hottest celebs are being seen out and about rockin' the new look. So I ask you ... who wears it best between these two equally sexy celebs:
Personally, and for no reason at all, I think I'm gonna have to go with Keith Richards. Who's your fave headband clad celeb this season? [Source]

Whatever ... don't judge me. I've been in a Disney way for the past few weeks so it shouldn't be any big surprise. I've already seen Beauty and the Beast (with my friend Sherri) and the Lion King (with Sarah) and I have no interest in seeing Tarzan so ... Mary Poppins it was! The show is great ... but only if you stop comparing it to the movie. Who could ever fill Julie Andrews' shoes as the original Mary Poppins? No one ... so as soon as you let that go, you start enjoying the show. The staging was incredible. The sets were amazing ... and yes, there is flying. The music was very good but only, I think, because the old songs are so timeless. I was less impressed with the new songs that were added but I didn't mind the changes that were made to the movie version of the tale. Tho, I must admit that I was very surprised by the addition of the dancing nekkid statues in the park scene. David swears that he could see "balls" which is a bit inappropriate for children, I think. Irregardless, the show is cute and deff worth seeing if you're a fan.
We've got tickets to see Spring Awakening tomorrow afternoon ... I've only heard the best things about that show so I'm excited to see if I've heard right.
My week here in NYC is coming to a close and I think I'll be a little sadder than usual to leave on Sunday ... David and I have been having an exceptional time together. I'm gonna hate leaving him this time.
I hope y'all have a great weekend ... be safe and have fun! I am out.
