Come Out And Play
I was lucky enough to get an invite to tonight's festivities and I RSVPed post haste. I'm hoping against hope that Britney Spears might be there as well but I'm fairly certain that she will stay out-of-sight until the album release date gets closer ... and not before the photos of Sutton Pierce get printed in a magazine like People. Well, at least I'll be treated to selections from Kevin's album, Playing With Fire, at tonight's event. I'll do my best to say hello to Kevin on behalf of all the Pink is the new Blog readers out there. I guess we'll see if K-Fed can take some good-natured ribbing. [Source]
The new Clint Eastwood movie Flags of our Fathers had it's Hollywood premiere this past Monday night and many of Hollywood's hunky (and not-so-hunky) men strutted their stuff on the red carpet:
Noticeably absent was Ryan Phillippe, one of the film's principle stars. From what I understand, this film is going to be a real man's man movie much the same way that Saving Private Ryan was. The movie tells the tale of the six men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima which famously marked the turning point in WWII. Yeah ... I'm prolly gonna check it out cuz Ryan Phillippe and Jesse Bradford are in it ... and because I want to see grown men crying in the movie theater. [Source]
Sarah Michelle Gellar paid a little visit to MTV's TRL yesterday to promote her new movie The Grudge 2:
*SPOILER*SPOILER* Even tho SMG has a very short part in this sequel, she is still making the rounds to promote the movie. I would see SMG in anything ... The Grudge was not scary to me and I don't think The Grudge 2 will be any more scary but I'll deff see it for sure. And look at that ... I did a whole little piece on SMG without once mentioning my intense love of Buffy the Vampire--DAMNIT! [Source]
So wait ... did Madonna really adopt a Malawian baby boy after all? According to the boy's father, yes she did. Here are pictures of Madonna holding and carrying around the boy:
Madonna has adopted a one-year-old Malawian boy whose mother died a month after childbirth, according to the baby's father who said Tuesday he was happy his son was escaping poverty. "I am the father of David, who has been adopted," Yohame Banda, 32, told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "I am very, very happy because as you can see there is poverty in this village and I know he will be very well looked after in America." He said his wife, Marita, died a month after the baby's birth from childbirth complications and the child had been cared for at the Home of Hope Orphan Care Center in Mchinji, a village near the Zambian border. Banda said his son left the orphanage on Monday and was taken to the capital, Lilongwe, where Madonna and her entourage were staying in an upscale ranch. Malawian government officials said last week the pop star planned to adopt a Malawian boy while she is in the impoverished African nation visiting projects she funds for AIDS orphans. However, they declined to comment on Banda's claim that his son David had been adopted by the singer. Madonna has made no public comment since her arrival. Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said in a statement last week that the star was on a private visit working on projects for children, and dismissed statements from Malawian government officials that she and her husband, film director Guy Ritchie, planned to adopt a boy. Hmmm ... Maddy's publicist went to great lengths to deny the adoption rumors that were swirling around last week ... so is she trying to pull a fast one? Actually, I think it would be cool if Madonna adopted a little Malawian child (as I suspected she might) ... that would show Angelina Jolie who's boss. [Source, thanks Mindy]
Apparently Africa is the place to be if you're a celebrity these days. Beyonce and Jay-Z are in Nigeria for the THISDAY Music Festival ... and while they're in town, as it were, they decided to visit some of the surrounding villages:
Ruh-ro ... it appears that Beyonce is getting a few ideas with all those little kids around. Whatevs, Jay ... let her have a baby of her own ... she's got to keep up with the Madonnas and Angelinas. [Source]
President Bill Clinton was recently honored in NYC at the T.J. Martell Foundation's 31st Annual Gala where he received the Humanitarian of the Year award. He was also honored by performances by Mary J. Blige and Sheryl Crow:
Additionally, he was honored by being allowed to stand really, really close to Sheryl for a few photos. Apparently, he's a fan of women who wear pleather. [Source]
Evangeline Lilly and Dominic Monaghan seem to be really into one another. They are not merely satisfied with being surfing buddies ... it would appear that they also enjoy being rub-up-all-on-one-another-on-the-beach buddies too:
Who knew that Hobbits were so smooth with the ladies? I was under the impression that Hobbit dudes only messed around with other Hobbit dudes. Good on ya, mate! [Source]
Dina Lohan is doing her very best to stay out of the lime-light so as not to draw too much attention to her. She is the type of classy lady who would never want to be a celebrity in her own right ... she strikes me as the type of her person who is content with merely being the mother of a real celeb:

It's rare that we see her emerge from the shadows to appear at a public event. She always looks so quiet and reserved. [Source]
Um ... I don't think that Paris Hilton is taking her self-imposed hiatus from men (where she proclaimed to lay off sex for a full calendar year) very seriously:

I also don't think that this random, nameless dude is taking his reputation very seriously either. Oh wait ... maybe they're "just friends". [Source]
Boy, oh, boy ... Mariah Carey is getting reeeeeal lazy these days:
I wouldn't want to be standing too close to the top button of those jeans when it finally gives way. [Source]
You know ... I've been thinking ... who needs Jake Gyllenhaal or Matthew McConaughey or Lance Armstrong when we've got all that sexiness rolled up in one complete hunk of manliness in Carson Daly?
He's got the bike, he's got the helmet and, most importantly, he's got the spandex too. He's got it all, y'all ... and he's even thinner than a French fashion model who passes out from hunger right there on the runway ... what more could you ask for? [Source]
OH and speaking of Carson ... homie gave me and Pink is the new Blog an awesome shout-out on last night's episode of his show Last Call with Carson Daly ... here is a screencap:
Pink reader Suzanne gave me the head's up last week that Carson was going to shout me out on an upcoming show. It turns out that the shoutout occurred on last night's ep. Suzanne was at the taping last week and sent me an email to be on the look out for it. Additionally, I received tons of emails last night/this morning letting me know. Carson ... you're the man! Thanks so much for the shout-out ... I'm sending all my Pink Love right back atcha! Quick Carson story, the first time that I ever visited NYC Sarah and I were in Times Square and we noticed all the kids hanging out in front of the MTV studios. Carson was the host of TRL back then and we got in with the crowd and were screaming Carson, let us up! He came over to the window and altho he didn't bring us up, he pointed down and waved as a cameraman zoomed in on Sarah and me and we got about 5 seconds of airtime on TRL. Pretty much every kid at the school that I used to teach at saw me on TV. So I have Carson Daly to thank for my first-ever TV appearance. Kirsten Dunst is featured in the Photo Issue of Entertainment Weekly ... here are a few photos from her photoshoot where she appears as a modern-day Marie Antoinette:
The photos are great ... even the one where she is ripping off that old Wonder Woman poster. I think my fave is the one with the horse. I'm back to reading Antonia Fraser's book on Marie Antoinette and I love it! It's so long but so interesting ... it's got me all excited to see the Sofia Coppola movie Marie Antoinette all over again when it gets released on Oct. 20th. Love it! [Source]
I have to send out all sorts of BIRTHDAY LURVE to my dear Michelle Trachtenberg ... Miss Thang turns a very legal 21 years old today:

I upgraded my seat on the plane to the exit row so that I could have a lot of leg room and boy did it make all the difference in the world. It was deff worth the $15 to have a more pleasant and comfortable trip. I was supposed to make my way to the Cobra Starship CD release party at Privilege last night but the plane was late, there was trubs getting one of my bags and then it took FOREVER for me to get to my car in the long-term parking lot. I didn't get home until way late and I totally just crashed onto the floor ... literally. I'm not sure when I dragged my butt to bed but I'm so bummed I missed the party.
Boo.
Hopefully tonight will be drama-free ... but you never know ... I'll be sure to let you know! I'm out.
