Party Like It's 1984!
As bummed as I am that I'm not home in Detroit to partake in all the hoopla I know in my heart that this is the way it's meant to be. I am utterly convinced that the Detroit Tigers are going to win their first World Series Championship since 1984 -- because I am no longer living in Detroit. I went to college at the University of Oklahoma and I made sure to go to every single home football and basketball game that I could. Thruout my time at OU, both the football and basketball teams pretty much sucked. As soon as I graduated and moved back to Michigan, the football team won the NCAA championship and the basketball team made it to the finals. The Detroit Tigers have been playing really, really badly in recent years and altho I don't believe it's my fault that they've been playing badly, I do contend that the fact that I moved out of Michigan will result in them winning the World Series. St. Louis is a great city ... and I got mad love for the people of St. Louis but I gotta throw all my support and love to my boys back in Detroit. It's on bitches ... even tho I have zero baseball experience or knowledge, I predict the Tigers will win it all in 5 games. [Source]
Here are new pictures of babies Zahara and Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt chillin' in India with their parents Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ... and it appears that their sibling rivialry is alive and strong:
See, what I don't understand is why these precious little girls can't just get along. You know that Zahara ain't gonna take no crap from no one ... especially her little sister Shiloh. It'll be interesting to see which of these little darlings will win the battle for supremacy. If Maddox is smart, he'll stay out of the fray. I don't think he's gonna wanna get his ass whipped in the ensuing battle that is sure to come between Zahara and Shiloh. [Source, Source]
Jude Law needs to get himself a manbag in the worst way:
I just hope he doesn't keep his cell phone in there as well. [Source]
Pete Doherty and Kate Moss continue to inspire one another in various creative ways ... here is the insanely happy couple doing their thang on stage at the Babyshambles concert in Florence, Italy this past Thursday:
First Kate Moss fancies herself a singer and then Pete Doherty will fancy himself a model ... then will come the wedding, then babies and then the reality TV show. Isn't it funny to think that these two crazies appear to have a more rock-solid relationship than Nick and Jessica ever did? [Source]
Pink reader Johanna snapped this photo of Matthew McConaughey rockin' out on the bongos at an Austin bar last month at about 5am:
Yep, Matty looks like he's in the zone ... anyone could just walk up and pose for a photo with him in the background and he was none the wiser. I wonder what he was thinking about that kept his rapt attention. [thanks Johanna]
Pink reader Jared sends in this photo of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom wearing an interesting t-shirt:
LOL! I actually think this is pretty cute. It looks like the puns on Product (RED) merchandise is set to be the new SexyBack. [Source, thanks Jared]
Um ... either McFly are the new spokespersons for the Got Milk? campaign ...
... or someone forgot to bring the tissues. [Source]
Victoria Beckham is featured in the new issue of Harper's
... I'm not exactly sure what she's trying to convey with these photos. I think it's safe to say that "warm" "inviting" and "human" are not what she's going for. [Source]
And finally ... here is a new batch of pictures sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers celebrating good times. Pink reader Lindella sends in a photo of Lauren celebrating her 6th birthday in Mississippi -- Sara helping Christina celebrate her 30th birthday in Ottawa, Canada -- Ashley and friends helping Jill celebrate her 40th birthday -- Renee and the Boston Alumnae Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta volunteering at Making Strides for the Cure (the American Cancer Society's Walk) in Boston, MASS -- Kimberly and Pat who both participated in a Race for the Cure (Kimberly ran 5K in 28:53):
Thank you all so much for the awesome photos ... Happy Birthday to the birthday girls and much congrats and kudos to those of you who gave a little of your time and effort to help your charities. After dinner, we met up with my new friend Alice at The Grove to see Marie Antoinette:
I was very anxious to see the movie again after finishing Antonia Fraser's book on which the movie was based. The book is so through and very detailed that the movie just can't compare in substance ... but visually, it's stunning and really makes the story of Marie Antoinette come alive. Seeing the movie again made me yearn to go back to France and revisit Versailles. I was surprised that there were a few people in the audience who audibly booed when the movie was finished. I, for one, loved the movie and thought it was well made and fairly well acted. If you missed reading my thoughts on the movie the first time I saw it you can read that post HERE.
I gotta say hey to Pink readers Jeffrey and Christina who I got to meet last night ... as always, it was a pleasure meeting readers :)
Today is absolutely gorgeous here ... the temp is supposed to get well into the 80s ... I have to get out and enjoy it now! Have a great weekend ... Lates!
