Back To The Future
Eh, she's lookin' a little rough around the edges but she's still kinda cute. Her smile gets me every time. Even the haters have to admire her work ethic ... she spends more time workin' her booty off at the dance studio than anywhere else on Earth these days. That's gotta be good news, right? [Source]
ATTENTION: LOST SPOILER ALERT WARNING
So yeah, last night's season finale of Lost was pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. I am willing to fully forgive the producers for all the crap they gave us early on in the season because they managed to listen to all our bitching and fix things on the show before it got too late. Last night's finale was the perfect mix of intrigue, surprise and stunning revelation that we, the audience, have come to expect from the show ... of the season finales that I watched this season, this was by far the best of the lot:
Okay, let's get the Jack stuff out of the way first. I absolutely knew that his "flashback" was actually taking place in the future (present?) off the island. Him sitting in that plane (an Oceanic plane, btw) just screamed THIS IS THE FUTURE. I'm such a cell phone geek, when I saw him using the Motorola KRZR cell phone I knew it had to be the future (present?) ... despite the line about Jack's father -- either that cryptic remark is going to mean something really convaluted or he was just too drugged up to make any sense. It seems pretty clear that we're going to be seeing a lot more of the future in the coming seasons ... a future that will slowly reveal who will survive and make it off the island (and who will have job security for the duration of the show -- Jack and Kate already made it). I love how we get teased with the dead person in the newspaper that Jack mourns so deeply and get no inkling as to who it could be. All we know is that it is a man. It could be someone from the island and it could be someone we haven't even been introduced to yet. That will be a revelation that will come at some point down the line ... I think it's clear that some people are happier on the island (Ben, Locke and apparently Jack) but I don't believe that everyone would be happier there (Kate looked pretty good and happy in the future) so all that crap about "Everyone will die if you leave the island" is garbage ... at least, in the literal sense. And hello, was anyone else really bothered that Jack kept getting recognized for his rescue of that lady and the kid and not for being one of the survivors of Oceanic 815? I would think that alone would've gotten him his own TV show or something. [Source, Source]
And is it wrong that I really wanted Jack to jump off that bridge? I'm sorry, he just irritates me so much ... I'm looking forward to the "flash-forward" scene that deals with his death ... I just do.
Now, the rest of the ep was pretty damn good. The exploding tents mostly went off without a hitch -- if Jin didn't suck as a marksman it would've been totally successful. I was really surprised that Bernard ratted out his friends (and wife) so easily ... see, this is why he is never included in big decisions:
Walt showing up on the island was a big surprise ... tho he looks so different from when we saw him last, I actually expected Locke to ask him who he was. Obvs the kid who plays Walt hit puberty pretty hard because he is full on in the heebie-jeebies stage. I really expected more from Danielle and Alex's reunion ... they hadn't seen one another for 16 years and yet they don't freak out or anything normal people would do. I was glad that Hurley finally became useful ... driving that van into the bad guys was pretty smart, tho he prolly could've achieved the same result if he just plowed into them with his body. While it's sad that Charlie died, it really had to happen ... his was really the saddest death of the year. But what I don't get is how was the Looking Glass station able to pipe right into Penny's living room so quickly ... is there something shady going on there? Speaking of shady, Locke has really taken a turn for the eviler ... I doubt he'll be accepted as one of the good guys anymore. A lot of really great things that needed to happen finally happened. They made contact with someone off the island and we finally know, once and for all, that they're not all dead living in purgatory (which is a very popular theory even tho the producers have said all along that it was not what was happening) and will be rescued some day (in 3 more seasons). And now we wait ... Lost won't return until next Feb. We have a lot to think about in the meantime ... I'm just glad that I care about the show again otherwise I wouldn't even bother. ATTENTION: AMERICAN IDOL SPOILER ALERT WARNING
Now, I don't watch American Idol, nor do I really care who wins the show each season but it is newsworthy so I guess I'll post a little something one the outcome. From what I understand, not everyone is happy with the winner ... but really, doesn't that happen every season?
The big voice overwhelmed the beatbox Wednesday night as Jordin Sparks was crowned the newest and youngest "American Idol." Sparks, 17, of Glendale, Arizona, prevailed over beatboxer Blake Lewis, 25, of Bothell, Washington, after a triumphant performance Tuesday that wowed the show's judges and the viewers who gave her a majority of the record 74 million votes cast. "Mom, Dad, I love you," Sparks, the daughter of retired NFL player Phillippi Sparks, said tearfully after a bear hug from Lewis. In an interview backstage with The Associated Press, the overwhelmed winner recalled talking with her Dad about how she used to watch him sign autographs. Sparks said he told her, "'You're more famous than me now.' And I was like, 'Oh, Dad, that's so weird.'" ... The contest came down to either the stronger singer, Sparks, or the better entertainer, Lewis. Sparks delivered her songs simply and powerfully; Lewis' flourishes included his sound effects and sharp dance moves. The year that Jennifer Hudson got eliminated I could care even less who would end up winning ... I think that Melinda Doolittle has the opportunity to be this year's Jennifer Hudson ... not that I really care ;) I absolutely love the screencap of the Idol contestants who were voted off showing how they really feel about not being up on stage ... LOL! I threw in a couple pics of Kelly Clarkson because she is the only American Idol that I recognize. Eh, I'm so over it. [Source]
Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush were all in attendance in Tokyo for the Japanese premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End yesterday and here are a few pics from the red carpet:
I don't know what the hell is so important that Keira Knightley can't be bothered to show up at these premieres but she better have a great excuse. The movie begins showing tonight at 8PM and David and I already have our tickets to be among the first peeps to see it. Woot! I can't wait ... my only regret is that Jim can't be here to go with us ... he's too bizzy bein' out of the country to go to the movies with us. [Source]
Sharon Stone played hostess in Cannes, France for a charity event las night that raised $7 million dollars for the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Here are a few pics from the event's red carpet:
Sharon Stone played auctioneer, Kylie Minogue and Julian Lennon sang, and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese did a saucy strip routine — all to raise money for AIDS research. An annual benefit soiree on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday raised $7 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). Stone, wearing a clingy silver dress, played hostess and fast-talking auctioneer throughout the night. When George Clooney and other cast members of Ocean's Thirteen came onstage to auction off a yacht vacation, Stone promised a bidder: "If you put up $350,000, George will kiss you." Clooney went through with it, and he and Stone sold two yacht vacations instead of one for a total of $700,000 ... Von Teese came onstage in cowgirl suit, complete with pink glittering hat, then stripped down to underwear, pink cowboy boots and strategically placed tassels. Instead of a bucking bronco, she rode atop a giant spinning lipstick. What a fun auction ... and what a great way to raise lots of money really quickly ... you wanna kiss George Clooney? All you have to do is pay ... [Source]
... you wanna hear Kylie Minogue sing The Loco-Motion? Just pay £200,000 and you got it:
They were a sight for sore eyes - a pop-princess and a Hollywood sex symbol, dirty-dancing in the name of charity in front of a star-studded audience in Cannes. Sexy hostess Sharon Stone joined singer Kylie Minogue onstage for a sizzling duet coupled which brought the house down after cajoling the singer into an impromptu performance. The pair sang a duet that may well go down as the most expensive in history. Kylie agreed to sing two songs - with Stone providing the backing - after an audience in Cannes agreed to donate £200,000 a tune to an Aids charity ... Minogue, firmly back on the scene after her much publicised battle with cancer, agreed to sing Can't Get You Out Of My Head and The Locomotion - after £ 400,000 was raised. Stone, who hosted last night's event, could not resist the opportunity to sing along. The guests, who had paid £2,500 each for their tickets, could not have been more delighted. They are reported to have whooped and hollered at the climax of each song. First off, Kylie looked absolutely amazing. The woman is back in fine form ... she looks amazing in these pics. Secondly, props to Sharon Stone for getting all of these people to donate so much money for such a great cause. I love that big celebs just got dragged out of the audience and were made to sell their services for charity ... so brills. [Source]
Sarah Jessica Parker officially unveiled her new discount clothing line Bitten in an event held in NYC yesterday ... here are a couple pics from the launch:

With each Bitten item priced at $19.98 or less the only place you'll be able to find cheaper clothing will be at the Thrift store ... or in the H&M bargain bins about 3 months after the season is over. [Source]
Paris Hilton is about 11 days away from a jail cell but that is not stopping her from living her life ... here are pictures of Paris running around town trying to get as much accomplished as she can while she still can:
Ice cream? Check! Stationery for writing letters to friends and family while in jail? Check! A quick trip to the video store? Check! Apparently, Paris picked up Charlotte's Web and Happy Feet because she simply can't go to jail without seeing these cinematic masterpieces first. [Source]
Lindsay Lohan is only a couple months away from turning the legal drinking age and Svedka brand vodka have signed on to be the official sponsors of her 21st birthday so that their booze can be the first booze that Lindsay will be able to drink ... legally:
Alcoholics Anonymous member Lindsay Lohan has lined up Svedka vodka to sponsor her 21st birthday blowout in Las Vegas, a rep for the brand confirmed to us yesterday. It's part of a deal that could net the star up to seven figures for the July 2-3 celebration. That's even before the Wonderland rehab center she attended gives her a refund. Other partners include Pure nightclub, Caesars Palace (which is providing a "specially designed" suite) and the Social House restaurant at Treasure Island ... Lindsay's mother, Dina, has confirmed she is involved with AA. So, in view of the circumstances, is having a vodka maker sponsor the first birthday of legal drinking age a great idea? Her rep said, "I am unaware of who is sponsoring Lindsay's birthday, as I am not the one planning it." But Lohan's lawyer Mike Heller confirmed the vodka deal. "This should be one of the best parties ever," he told Us Weekly. I have no doubt it has the potential to be one of the best parties ever ... I just hope the poor dear lives long enough to see 22. Justin Timberlake, wearing black clothing and dark sunglasses, spent the day sulking around Paris, France yesterday:

I'm actually surprised that a pimp like JT would be so wrecked over a girl like Jessica Biel. She must be offering something that I just can't see. [Source]
Matthew McConaughey has finally lost it ... he's been separated from Jake Gyllenhaal and Lance Armstrong for so long that he's finally snapped ...

And finally, Nina Gordon fans rejoice ... Miss Nina is giving away a few unreleased songs and demos on her official website messageboard for free download:
Some of the songs come from her unreleased album Even the Sunbeams and the demos come from the recording sessions from her latest album Bleeding Heart Grafitti. Nina has been real bizzy being a new mom to her baby girl Ivy so it's really cool that she's offering this new music to her fans. I've been listening to the new music all morning and I love it ... hopefully she'll be able to give us more in the near future. Make sure you download these new tracks while supplies last HERE.
