Gwen's New Projects
Hey No Doubters,
Been thinking so much about you all lately as I am back in the studio again with the boys trying to write some new music.
What an amazing few years it has been. So inspired going through the dance record phase of my life. Thank you so much for all your support! The tour was incredible. We ended up doing over 100 shows around the world and it was so rewarding and again inspiring. Thank you to everyone who came out to see it ... memories for life! Great to be home with all my boys.
Feels crazy to be pregnant all over again!!!!! We have been spending every day up in the little studio in our house trying to write music. My favorite part so far is just seeing the guys everyday and hanging out. We have so much fun together. The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part...I think it has something to do with the baby in my belly but I'm sure it is all of the process and I really believe this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far.
Cant wait to see what happens.
All my love
g
Gah ... she is so sweet and cute, it's kinda gross, no? I do love that she took the time to post this little update on the No Doubt site ... it sounds like she's living a very charmed, very happy life so I guess it can't be so surprising that she's so chipper and upbeat all the time. I can't wait for her 2 new projects ... I wonder if the new No Doubt album will be timed for the release of her new baby. [Source]

The TV Guide: The Long Goodbye
We got to hang out for a bit before we had to be off ... David, Mike G. and I had dinner plans before I was to take David to the airport so Darion tagged along for a quick bite to eat at Fat Fish in West Hollywood. Jordan, who was in the neighborhood, stopped by to hang out for a while as well. I got to meet Pink reader Brandon at the restaurant who came over to say hello during dinner. It was while we were finished up that Steph and Alek sent a couple pics from the airport and from their plane before they departed for France:
I have to say ... I'm really gonna miss these guys. We all got so close over the past few weeks, it's sad that they're gone for so long. But they've got biz to take care of at home and they'll be back in SoCal in no time. I'm already looking forward to the big celebration we'll have when they return to LA.
After we dropped David off at the airport, Mike G. and I grabbed some coffee at Insomnia before going to the movies to see American Zombie:
Now, the movie was Mike G.'s pick and he really enjoyed it ... I'm still not sure how I feel about the flick. The movie is a faux documentary of the lives of zombies living in America. It has a humorous bent to it for the first half of the film but then it takes a decidedly darker tone as the movie progresses. It doesn't really become a horror film, per se, but it is a bit disturbing. The movie just felt really weird to me. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. The movie is very inventive storywise but I'm not sure that the execution was really that successful. But as I said, Mike really liked it so I'm sure there's a market.
This evening, I'm meeting up with Mike and Adriana for dinner in Silverlake and that's about it, I think. I want to try and get some work done tonight ahead of tomorrow's big day. I have to be at the Dancing with the Stars taping pretty early in the afternoon so I'll have limited time to write in the AM. But WOOT! I'm finally going to get to see Kylie Minogue with my own eyes ... I can't wait!!!

J. Lo Is Lookin' Lighter
Just five weeks after giving birth to twins, Jennifer Lopez stepped out last night looking, svelte, with little sign left of the massive 50lb she gained during her pregnancy. Jennifer, 38, took to the red carpet in a draped black Grecian dress at the premiere of the Rolling Stones new rockumentary 'Shine A Light' which revealed the singer is clearly almost back in to her pre-pregnancy best. She arrived with husband Marc Anthony, but all eyes were on the radiant mother of twins Maximilian David and Emme Maribel, born February 22. Jennifer looked the epitome of glamour with her trademark glowing make-up, hair swept up in a chic bun, and black body-skimming dress.
La Diva Latina is deffo back in full effect! J. Lo recently told OK! magazine that she is in no hurry to lose her baby weight but it looks like she's getting back to her smaller size anyways. I hope it won't be long until we get to see J. Lo out and about with her twin babies Max and Emme ... I think it'd be an amazing idea to get those kiddies out in the fresh air and sunlight so that they don't end up with daddy Darc Anthony's pallid color. I don't think that anyone is really interested in zombie babies. J. Lo's offspring ought to be absolutely and stunningly faboo just like their moms. [Source]

The Fall Of Paris
Socialite Paris Hilton has been left with a swollen and grazed chin - after she was swarmed by paparazzi while exiting a restaurant in the Czech Republic. The reality TV star is currently touring with boyfriend Benji Madden and his band Good Charlotte in Europe, with the pair squeezing in a romantic sightseeing tour together in Prague on Sunday. But their plans were scuppered when the 27-year-old's presence led to hysteria amongst photographers clambering to take her picture, with a major fight breaking out amongst rival snappers. And after seeking solace in a local restaurant in Prague's famous Staromestska Square, Hilton fell trying to escape the paparazzi as she tried to make her exit from the eaterie.
How tragic! [Source]
It is extremely rare for Paris Hilton to shun any eager photographers that may want to take her picture but for some reason, Paris wasn't all that keen on showing off her injured chin:
The poor dear. While I'm sure her injury was a bit painful, I'm sure her ego is the one that took the brunt of the punishment. Paris prides herself on living her life in front of the cameras ... unfortch, when you invite the paparazzi into every facet of your life they tend to want to record the bad stuff too. Chin up, Paris ... I'm sure you'll be healed and ready to mug for all the cameras again soon enough.

Harlow On The Downlow
I believe this is the first time that Harlow has been seen since her adorable photospread in People magazine came out last month. I suspect it may be some time before she is allowed to see the light of day outside of the safe confines of her little container but I'm sure it won't be long 'til the little darling is walking hand in hand with her parents. Until then, in the box she stays. [Source]

You Win Some, You Lose Some
David Beckham's first regular-season game for the Los Angeles Galaxy was a disaster as his side suffered a 4-0 drubbing by the Colorado Rapids and had Abel Xavier sent off. Beckham played in his first regular-season game in Colorado since joining the Galaxy last year. Beckham flew back from Europe after playing for England against France last Wednesday. "It's always going to be tough when you have international games," Beckham said. "I felt OK for most of the match, maybe not at my sharpest, but it was overall a tough game for us. We created chances, but didn't put them away." Colorado's English import Terry Cooke made more impact than Beckham, scoring the 10th minute opener and creating another goal. It was the third goal for Cooke, who made his MLS debut in 2005 following two years with Sheffield Wednesday. Christian Gomez converted a 60th minute penalty, Omar Cummings scored in the 67th minute and Colin Clark added the fourth goal 10 minutes from time.. Things got testy toward the end of the game. In the 90th minute, Galaxy defender Xavier was issued a red card after tackling Ciaran O'Brien. Right after that, O'Brien's hard tackle on Carlos Ruiz earned him a red card. "I'm finding it hard not to criticize some of the decisions tonight but I've just been told I'll be fined if I do," Beckham said. "I don't want that to happen. Referees have a tough job, but some decisions change games, and that's happened tonight" ... The Galaxy said the altitude played a part in their sluggish play, and that Gomez's goal deflated them. "The turning point was the penalty kick," Galaxy head coach Ruud Gullit said. "That caused a little bit of chaos in our organization, and we lost our head a little bit." Seven minutes later, Cummings got behind the Galaxy defense and made it 3-0. Clark finished the scoring when he maneuvered by Xavier and beat Cronin to the short side to make it 4-0. Beckham created chances for the Galaxy. In the 27th minute, his free kick went to Landon Donovan at the far post, but his popped-up shot was caught by goalie Bouna Coundoul. A minute later, Beckham had another free kick that was knocked wide, and then Beckham came down the right side alone and sent a pass across to Ely Allen, whose header attempt went wide. "That's Beckham, that's the way he plays and that's his strength," Coundoul said. "Before the game I reviewed how he kicks them so I kind of knew where the ball would be." The Galaxy's best chance to even the score came in the 45th minute, and again Beckham started things. His free kick from the left got to the goal mouth, but Cooke was able to control the ball before Carlos Ruiz could knock it in.
After the loss, Becks had to admit that the Galaxy deserved to lose since they didn't really play well thruout the game:
"Not our best night," Beckham said. "In the first half we didn't play our best but we created chances. When you don't play good football you don't deserve to win" ... Beckham and the Galaxy will have a chance to claim their first triumph when the team makes its home debut Thursday against San Jose. "We've got a good team. We've got good players," Beckham said. "We just need to take the positive from this and move on."
Personally, I'm still willing to cut the guy some slack. I hope he won't be flying back to Europe every other week to play over there because I really do believe all the traveling does have an averse effect on his game. He just needs to focus on the task at hand with the LA Galaxy and they'll start winning games. They have to ... otherwise someone's gonna demand a refund for that $50+ million dollar contract ;) [Source, Source]
Becks was already back home in LA by Sunday so he decided to take in an LA Lakers basketball game last night ... here are a few pics of Becks cheering the Lakers on to a 126-120 victory over the Washington Wizards:

Well, at least one LA team had a good weekend :) Ah well ... again, I'm sure that Becks will be able to start pulling in wins for the Galaxy. I predict the home opening game this Thursday will be a happy one for the Galaxy.

Fair Play
Madonna appears on the cover of Vanity Fair for the 10th time, posing for photographer and longtime collaborator Steven Meisel for V.F.'s third annual Green Issue. The inspiration for the cover image (Madonna holding up a custom-made globe of the world measuring four feet in diameter) came from the cover of a mid-century fashion magazine and the 1920s work of Czech photographer Frantisek Drtikol. Madonna tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Rich Cohen that in high school, "I was one of those people that people were mean to." She continues, "I wasn't a hippie or a stoner, so I ended up being the weirdo. I was interested in classical ballet and music, and the kids were quite mean if you were different ... When that happened, instead of being a doormat, I decided to emphasize my differences. I didn't shave my legs. I had hair growing under my arms. I refused to wear makeup, or fit the ideal of what a conventionally pretty girl would look like. So of course I was tortured even more, and that further validated my superiority, and helped me to survive and say, 'I'm getting out of here, and everyone is a heathen in this school—you don't even know who Mahler is!'" Madonna draws on the same kinds of survival skills today when it comes to dealing with all of the media attention, telling Cohen, "You have to get to a point where you care as little about getting smoke blown up your ass as you do when you become a whipping boy in the press, because ultimately they both add up to shit. You just have to keep doing your work, and hope and pray somebody's dialing into your frequency. If your joy is derived from what society thinks of you, you're always going to be disappointed."
In this interview, Madonna talks about a range of issues, including Britney Spears:
"Yes, I know. I know exactly what you're going to say. It's very painful. Which leads us back to our question: When you think about the way people treat each other in Africa, about witchcraft and people inflicting cruelty and pain on each other, then come back here and, you know, people taking pictures of people when they're in their homes, being taken to hospitals, or suffering, and selling them, getting energy from them, that's a terrible infliction of cruelty. So who's worse off? You know what I mean?"
The way paparazzi culture has evolved:
"The paparazzi are out of control. I haven't been to Los Angeles in quite a while, and I don’t watch television here or in England, and I was told there's now a television show where the paparazzi are the stars of the show—is that true? That they film each other doing paparazzi jobs? Which gives them more fuel. I usually found that type kept their distance—they definitely do in England, because it's illegal to photograph children. But that's not how it is here. They get this close, and don't care how much they scare your children. Being famous has changed a lot, because now there's so many outlets, between magazines, TV shows, and the Internet, for people to stalk and follow you. We created the monster."
Her longevity in the music business:
"Honestly, it's not something I sit around ruminating about. Who is my role model and how long can I keep this going? I just move around and do different things and come back to music, try making films and come back to music, write children's books and come back to music."
Her thoughts on the current state of New York City:
"It's not the exciting place it used to be. It still has great energy; I still put my finger in the socket. But it doesn't feel alive, cracking with that synergy between the art world and music world and fashion world that was happening in the 80s. A lot of people died."
It's always interesting to hear Madonna's perspective on things and in this Vanity Fair interview, on newsstands nationally on April 8, she gives her $0.02 on other topics as well. [Source]
Additionally, VanityFair.com has posted a very cool slideshow of all of Madonna's coverphotos and appearances on/in their magazine HERE:
This look back at Madge's involvement with VF mag thruout the years comprises a really interesting timeline of her career as a whole. If you check out the photos from the Sex book era (circa 91-92), you'll remember how Madonna was not opposed to showing off her bare chest and bare bottom ... now that's a Madonna that we've not seen for quite some time now. I can't wait to read the new Madonna VF interview but I'll also have to spend some time going thru this archival slideshow and looking back on the Madonna who changed the music industry forever. Kylie In America
Of course, since Kylie isn't a big household name here in this country, the Today Show had to dig out archival footage of Kylie from her Locomotion days was back in the late '80's to refresh American memories (and to embarrass our dear Kylie) of this little Aussie pixie on their TV screens but, by and large, the interview was a good one. I just love the fact that she's in our country in the first place ... getting to see her on TV is icing on the cake. Here are a couple pictures of Kylie, lookin' totally faboo, during her appearance this morning:
Kylie will be the musical guest on ABC's Dancing with the Stars tomorrow night and she will be doing a few more promo appearances in the next couple of days. I am happy to report that Tony and I will be dressing up (the dress code for attendance includes slacks, a jacket and tie!) and attending the taping of DWS which features Kylie tomorrow afternoon (it tapes live for the East Coast). I'm not sure if I'll be able to FINALLY AT LONG LAST meet the incredible Kylie Minogue at tomorrow's taping but I'm going to do my best. It would be a shame to finally get to have the opportunity to meet her and not have it come to be ... but, to be honest, seeing her live in person will be thrill enough. I've been a loyal fan of hers since 1988 (aka "the Locomotion days") and this will be my first opportunity to see her live and in person with my own eyes. Needless to say I'm very excited for whatever will come to be tomorrow :)
Welcome to the US, Kylie ... we've been expecting you ... and for quite some time now!!!

Star Magazine Recants, Brangelina Remain Unwed
Sources in a position to have information regarding a secret wedding ceremony between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had confirmed to Star that the couple married in the French Quarter Wedding Chapel on Saturday, March 29. "There were two weddings, one planned and one unplanned," one source told Star. "Brad and Angelina's was the planned ceremony. The weather wasn't good, so we were indoors." After further investigation, the sources are not standing by their story. Brad and Angelina's reps have not commented.
I had a feeling that this Star magazine report might turn out this way ... a Brangelina wedding would not be able to fly under the radar so successfully that only one media outlet would know about it. When no other outlets offered confirmation of the nuptials, I figured this retraction of sorts would be forthcoming. And so, Brangelina remain unhitched and pregs. [Source]
