Good Omens
Next up, the World Series. No offense to the New York Yankees fans but I'm really happy for the Boston Red Sox. They came back from being down 3 games to win the AL championship. John Kerry is from Massachusetts (good omen #1). The Democratic National Convention was in Boston and the Republican Nation Convention was in New York (good omen #2).
I'm just saying ...
Interestingly, the guy I was seeing right before I met Erik got a hold of me a few days ago. We chatted for a bit and the entire exchange was very pleasant (surprising). We caught up on what we each were doing lately and he seemed genuinely happy for me and Erik. He mentioned that he is going to be moving to LA as soon as he can and wondered if I'd be interested in a going-away dinner at Noble Fish (the sushi bar that he introduced me to). Not sure if that's going to happen (I'm game, we'll see if he actually follows through) but I mentioned it to Erik and he was cool with it. ANYWAYS, I wasn't even going to mention it but today Tottyland is paying homage to my ex's brother (pictured here who starred in the movie Gigli with J. Lo and Ben Affleck - yeah, not a good thing). He is apparently "cute" cuz the site owner "says so" and I suppose I can't really argue. Funny thing about this brother, I never met him ... and Gigli was so bad that it was pulled from the movie theaters a week or so after it was released and I never got to see it. It's just as well cuz the relationship didn't last very long either.
Sooo ... let's do the news:
- Some dumbass tried to sell his vote in the upcoming presidential election on eBay. But according to the Lafayette County Prosecutor's Office, Tim Hubbard placed an ad on eBay offering to sell his vote for either President George W. Bush or Sen. John Kerry to the highest bidder ... "I think the minimum bid was $25. Our right to vote was bought by the blood of our veterans and it's priceless," prosecutor Page Bellamy said ... Tim Hubbard said the bid for his vote was just a joke -- "stupid stuff." He said he did not know it was illegal or a big deal ... "I bristled. All of us have family, men who fought in Iraq and other wars over this kind of thing. The idea of diluting somebody's right to vote is ridiculous," Bellamy said ... Tim Hubbard is facing a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum penalty of up to a year in jail and fine of up to $2,500. Idiot! Personally, you couldn't pay me enough money to vote for GWButtface!
- Leapin' Lizards! Godzilla is going to get his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A ceremony will honor the giant lizard in front of Hollywood Boulevard’s famed Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Nov. 29, the world premiere of “Godzilla: Final Wars,” said Shogo Tomiyama, president of Toho Pictures Inc. ... The movie, the 28th in the series, will mark 50 years since Godzilla emerged from the sea. Hahahaha! I actually approve. Godzilla rocks!
- Happy Birthday wishes today to Judge Judy Scheindlin (62),Carrie Fischer (48) who played Princess Leia and Jeremy Miller (28) who played Ben Seaver on Growing Pains.
- Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia on Buffy and Angel) is up for the role of Lois Lane in the new Superman movie. According to the scooper, these six actresses are presently frontrunners for the part of Lois Lane in SUPERMAN. In alphabetical order they are: Mischa Barton (THE O.C.) Charisma Carpenter (ANGEL) Mia Kirshner (THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS) Evangeline Lilly (LOST) Natalie Portman (STAR WARS: ATTACK OF THE CLONES) Keri Russell (FELICITY). Very interesting list. The only one I do not approve of is Mischa Barton -- but she's probably in the top 3 choices. I'd love for Charisma to get it!
Weekend plans are still up in the air. We have been planning on a trip to Cedar Point but the weather will determine if we actually go. I really want to go so I'm hoping we can make it. Erik is starting to cool on the idea. He mentioned late last night (in a tired state, I might add) that he wasn't interested any more. I hope he goes ... it won't be as fun without him. But it's too early to count him out. The Grudge opens tomorrow and I definitely want to see that movie on opening day.
BTW: Rumor has it that someone I am close with is thinking about starting her own blog. I hope she does because I don't get to talk with her as often as I'd like and I would love to read about her everyday antics on a regular basis. SO IF YOU'RE READING THIS SOMEONE, please do start a blog!
