Pax On Earth
These two images appear to be of the same character (the character who wore the shiny red dress, holding the Bible, in the first promo image from this album) who seems to me to be a medicine woman or a witch. Note the burning sage in the first pic and the black cape in the second. Remember, when Tori Amos utilizes the "witch archetype" either image-wise or song-wise she is referring to the Pagan notion of witchcraft ... not the Christian notion (ie. the evil green hag). I am very interested to see what other characters emerge from the American Doll Posse. [Source]
Here is the first picture of Angelina Jolie and her newly adopted son Pax Thien Jolie as they make their way thru the streets of Ho Chi Minh City on their way to Hanoi under cover of a huge umbrella. They are in town to complete the necessary procedures in order for Angelina to take her son home with her to the US:
Angelina Jolie arrived in Hanoi on Monday to complete the procedures necessary to take her adopted son Pax Thien Jolie to his new home in the United States. The 31-year-old actress dodged reporters on her way from the airport after flying from Ho Chi Minh City, where she adopted the newest member of her family at an orphanage on the outskirts of the city last week. Jolie was expected to meet with U.S. Embassy officials Tuesday to apply for a visa for 3-year-old Pax. Once the visa is issued, she can take him to the United States. She was expected to leave Hanoi on Wednesday. It's not the best first photo of mother and son that I've seen but it is better than nothing. I fully expect that we will become very used to seeing Angelina carrying around that little boy for some time to come. [Source]
Supermodel and self-confessed underling beater Naomi Campbell showed up bright and early at the New York City Sanitation Department this morning to receive her instructions for completion of her 5-day sentence of community service. Naomi showed up with a pretty beat up pair of work boots (which she prolly purchased brand new and then had someone "beat them up" for her ... since, by court order, she can't beat up anything anymore) ... tho, she didn't actually wear the boots. I mean, how could she when she had a fabulous pair of Christian Louboutin's to show off:
Supermodel Naomi Campbell cunningly managed to avoid compromising on style today as she turned up for five days of mopping floors at New York's Sanitation Department as punishment for hitting her maid on the head with a mobile phone. The catwalk star, who had been advised to ditch her high heels for the community service work, sashayed into the garage building wearing stiletto Christian Louboutin ankle boots. But slung over her shoulder was a pair of tough-looking flat, clumpy boots, which she presumably planned to change into inside. She chatted to a police official as he escorted her along the 150m driveway from the road into the huge building on Manhattan's Lower East Side. She is being allowed to do her cleaning duties behind closed doors to avoid the media scrum which surrounded Boy George when he swept the city's streets in the summer. Campbell turned up a few minutes before her scheduled reporting time of 8am. Naomi Campbell will be wearing an orange vest and work gloves today when she starts five days' mopping up in a New York garage. The 36-year-old will also have to surrender her mobile while working. Wait ... what?! She is being allowed to do her mopping inside and out of sight of public view?! What the shizz kind of punishment is that? If I were Boy George (who was sentenced to the same punishment about this time last year), I'd get my ass down there and drag her outside so that we can all get a good look at her in her work outfit. Michael Jackson is still causing a stir these days amongst his insanely devoted fans ... here are pictures of Michael Jackson making a rabid fan's dreams come true by laying his hands upon her head for a blessing outside his London hotel ...
... and then he proceeded to pounce on and attack her. Well ... okay, he didn't really attack her but I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before Jacko totally loses it and starts flipping out in public. [Source]
I gotta show some lurve to my Detroit hometown boy Iggy Pop who performed this weekend with The Stooges at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, TX over the weekend ... this Ypsilanti boy is still able to rock just as hard as he ever could before:
Also, Iggy is the only other person on Earth who can show off more ribs than Nicole Richie and still look sexy. Hot! [Source]
Ew! I don't know why I'm so shocked but get a load of that massively gross sore that is bursting on Pete Doherty's lip in these pics:
That thing is reall effing gross. Pete is wise to try and keep that sucker under wraps (he'd also be wise to pick up a few tubes of THIS) ... Kate Moss would be wise to refrain from getting anywhere near his mouth for a few days and little Lila Grace would be wise to run like hell if Pete gets anywhere near her. ICK! [Source]
Queen Latifah celebrated her 37th birthday yesterday chillin' with some friends in Hawaii ... here are a few pics of her royal highness on the beach:

You know ... Queen Latifah is the shizz. I totally love her ... she looks like she was having a great time :) Happy Birthday, Queenie! [Source]
When Lindsay Lohan puts herself together she can really look amazing ... case in point, she looked really great in her blue jacket ensemble over the weekend. But, when Lindsay is in a hurry, well, she doesn't always take great pains to make sure she looks all that hot ... case in point, this mess:
Hahhahahah ... okay, she doesn't look a mess but it appears that she did get dressed in too much a hurry to button all of the buttons on her shirt. She is just one button away from attaining Girls Gone Wild status. [Source]
Speaking of hot messes ... Kimberly Stewart has reared her fugly head recently when she got the brilliant idea to try and entertain folks with a pole dance on a stripper pole down at a Miami, FL nightclub called Cameo ... blech, hold on to your lunches, y'all:
Thank the Gods above that she was wearing clothing ... I don't know what I would've done if she had tried to pull off a panty-less dance. UGH ... Hi, lunch. Yeah ... I think I'd rather get another gander at that sore on Pete Doherty's lip than dwell on the thought of Kim stripping. [Source]
Kylie Minogue claims she is not worried at all by reports that her former flame and Neighbors co-star Jason Donovan is planning on writing a tell-all book about his life ... including his love affair with Kylie back in the day:
KYLIE MINOGUE is sure old flame JASON DONOVAN won't do a kiss-and-tell in his new autobiography. She dismissed the idea [telling pals], "Jason is a great guy. I got a lovely message from him when I was really sick. I was so touched and I wrote back. It'll be a great book. He's had his highs and lows. His life's good now so he's in a good mindset to look back. I'll buy a copy for sure!" I hope she's right to trust him. Yes, Jason has had highs and lows in his career ... highs would include starring opposite Kylie on Neighbors and then dating her in real life, lows would include getting axed from Neighbors and getting dumped by Kylie in real life. Hmm ... should be an engaging book. [Source]
Sarah Jessica Parker has decided that poor people need fashion ... and she has decided that she is going to give it to them for a steal:
Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker only wore designer clothes in "Sex and the City." But her own sportswear line, which launches this June, promises affordable fashion for the masses, with every item priced less than $20. Parker, a former spokeswoman for Gap Inc., has paired up exclusively with mall-based collegiate wear seller Steve & Barry's to sell her "Bitten" label beginning June 7. Steve & Barry's has become one of America's fastest-growing national mall-based concepts selling clothing and accessories at $20 or less. In a statement, the company said Parker decided to partner with Steve & Barry's after learning of the company's philosophy to offer high-quality merchandise at the lowest possible prices. "Women should be able to wear great clothes and not lie in bed at night feeling guilty about how much money they've spent," Parker said in a statement. The tagline for the collection reads: "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right." Er ... it's an interesting concept but I am not sure exactly how well this venture is going to do. Steve & Barry's is the best place to buy athletic apparel that you don't really care about ... for example, you can buy a [insert rival university's or sports team name here] t-shirt for $10 and pretty much wipe your butt with it afterwards (not that *I* would do that, necessarily, it's merely an example). I am not sure if Bitten shoppers are planning to do the same with SJP's new clothing line but ... I guess anything is possible. As much as I love stores like H&M and Zara, the stuff from those stores don't really last forever. You can pick up a few great pieces, put together an outfit and potentially never, ever wear those pieces again. I'm not sure what the quality of Bitten clothes will be like ... but I would imagine the wear-life of those threads will be pretty short term. Yeah, good luck with this venture, SJP! [Source]
Chris Evans is featured in the new issue of V Man magazine ... and I must say that he's wearing entirely too much clothing than we're used to seeing from him:
Unfortunately, according to the article that accompanies these images, Chris' publicist is no longer allowing him to pose shirtless in any more photoshoots, telling him: "You don't want to end up pigeonholed as a beefcake." Yeah ... I think it's time for a new publicist, Chris >=( [Source]
Also wearing more clothing than we're used to seeing lately is Daniel Radcliffe in this new photoshoot:
You know, I don't actually have any problem with Daniel wearing clothes ... I do have a problem with those ridiculously shaggy eyebrows, tho. Get thee to a waxery, POST HASTE! [Source]
Wee! Here is the first poster for the new movie 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to the amazing 28 Days Later:
28 Days Later has to be one of my fave horror-esque films and definitely one of my fave zombie-esque films ever. You may recall it was the movie that make Cillian Murphy a star in the US. I had no idea the sequel would be released so soon ... Woot! I can't wait! [Source]
And finally ... can you guess who this aging rock-star turned reality TV star is?
Yeah ... it's hard to tell who he is under all these plastic surgery scars but ... he's normally very scary looking when he's all done up right. Click HERE to find out who it is. [Source]

I read the entire book on my flight over to Barcelona, Spain last month and fell in love with the story immediately. I was very anxious to see how the movie version would turn out. I am happy to report that I was not disappointed. The spirit of the book and all of the important aspects are preserved in the movie version. Of course, there are some things that have to be left out due to running time ... and mostly, the things I missed from the book that didn't make it to the film were miniscule. The book is so poignant that I really held on to little things from the story (like the part where the mother talks about her address book and what it means to her). I was surprised that the name change transition was glossed over pretty quickly. I expected more time to be devoted to that part of the story but, still, I loved the film. Kal Penn was great as Gogol but I was most impressed by the actors who played his parents -- Irfan Khan (who played Ashoke) and Tabu (who played Ashima). They were superb ... and they actually had me wanting to call my own parents after the movie was over. Much like the Joy Luck Club this movie really touched me (tho not as intensely) and I ain't gonna lie ... I *may* have teared up a bit in some parts. If you read the book, you should deff check out the movie. If you haven't read the book -- you should DEFF READ THE BOOK.
No plans for today ... I'll prolly just do menial stuff around the house. Have a happy Monday ... I'm out.
