Fight, Club Mix

Here are two more pictures of Madonna from the new issue of Dazed and Confused magazine (which look like they belong with the new issue of Interview magazine which features her on the cover) that were shot by her fave photographer Stephen Klein:

It would seem that this fighter theme is carrying on for promo of her new album Hard Candy. She appears as a fighter in both Dazed and Confused and Interview magazines -- clearly it's a theme that she is really playing with right now. I suspect that we will be seeing more photos of Madge in this light as the promo pics continue to be released. So far, I like what I see. Madonna has really fought her way to the top of the heap and is very deserving of the accolades that have been heaped (and will be heaped) upon her. Now ... if we could only hear the music ... The TV Guide: Chick-Fil-YAY!

Okay ... so yesterday, because my nighttime plans fell thru, I found myself with a free night to do whatever I wanted. I had planned on keeping it a quiet night of reading but for some reason I got the wild idea to find the nearest Chick-Fil-A (my fave fast food restaurant on Earth that I used to frequent in Oklahoma [when I was in college] but cannot be found anywhere in the North part of the US [ie. Detroit, MI] and drive out to enjoy their sumptuous food. Last weekend, David and I found a Chick-Fil-A in San Diego, CA but circumstances kept us from being able to eat there ... but last night I was undaunted ... I was going to drive as far as it took to eat there last night. I was happily surprised to learn that the closest Chick-Fil-A is in Redondo Beach -- only about 35 mins. south of LA. It was 6PM and I called to 1.) make sure the restaurant was really there and 2.) to find out what time they closed. It's a good thing I did call cuz they close at 8pm on Saturdays and are always closed on Sundays. I hopped in the car and made my way South. As I got closer and closer I got more and more anxious. If you don't think I'm completely crazy by this point, read on ... and check out the pics of each step along the way on my journey:

As I pulled into the South Bay Galleria mall parking lot I knew I had to hurry because traffic was worse than I anticipated and it was nearly 7:30pm. The first thing I did as I entered was check the map to find out where the restaurant was and ... well, the rest is history. While I was in line waiting to order, the 2 people behind me were talking about how excited they were to be eating there ... and I turned around and said, me too! It turns out that they were Pink readers Karla and David who also *RANDOMLY* happened to also drive down from LA to eat at the nearest Chick-Fil-A. OMG ... it was so cool running into them ... we decided to eat together and just get to know each other ... and, natch, we had to take a pic together:

You know ... eating a Chick-Fil-A was a thrill in and of itself ... but getting to share the experience with other Chick connoisseurs made it all the more fun. Karla and David have to be the coolest kids I've met in ages. I really enjoyed getting to know them ... and who knows, I may end up dining with them again at the South Bay Galleria some day :)

The whole dinner experience was so fun that I felt the need to celebrate ... I met up with mes amis Steph and Alek and we all met Darion and Jordon at Akbar for some fun dancing and drinking:

Unfortch, the dancing wasn't all that fun cuz the DJs for the night were pretty horrible. We met a girl on the dancefloor, Jayme, who wanted us to be dancing buddies with her so we obliged -- I told her that we would be having more fun if the DJ didn't suck and she informed me that the DJ is her boyfriend! OY! Once I removed my foot from my mouth we carried on with the night and did our best to salvage the evening. To be honest, with the great friends that I have it wasn't hard to make the best of it. The night wasn't too late a night so it was all good in the end.

Earlier today the whole mess of us, who I used to refer to as The GangTM and will from here on out refer to as Le GangTM (for obvs reasons), met up for brunch at Toast and then some of us spent a lovely afternoon by the pool ... but that is a tale for tomorrow. I'm meeting portions of Le GangTM for a movie in a little bit so ... yeah, it's been a great weekend. In fact, getting to meet and immediately befriend Steph and Alek here in LA has made the whole week a really fun one. It's hard not to feel blessed with friends like this (and a Chick-Fil-A to frequent now) ... it's like having a second family to share a life with here on the West Coast.

I hope all y'all had a great weekend, too :) Lates.

The Ghost Of One's Former Self

As I mentioned previously, Trent Reznor has released a new collection of Nine Inch Nails music titled Ghosts I-IV exclusively online at ghosts.NIN.com for sale in various formats and at various price levels (including free for a portion of the collection) ... and while the first 24 hours of availability didn't go quite as smoothly as, I'm sure, Trent would've liked, things are back on track and the music is now readily available (to sum up, the demand for the new NIN music was so high that a couple of servers crashed and disallowed downloading of the tracks ... Trent joked on NIN.com that, "Somebody kicked the plug out of our internets, but we're all set now."). Additionally, Trent uploaded a bunch of pics labeled as Creating Ghosts I-IV of TR and his crew in the studio working on the music ... and here are a few of my fave pics:

I have been anxious awaiting an update to the site and these new photos are really great (click HERE to see them all at the official NIN Flickr site). Trent has made it a habit of providing a look into the creation process when he is in the studio and has used the Internets to disseminate this information (whether it by via photo, .mp3 clips, video). I have always dreamed of being able to sit in the studio as Trent Reznor creates music and these photos give the audience a bit of a feel for how things go down in the studio. I am *so* loving this new instrumental NIN music ... and the rumor that NIN is going to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL this summer gives me hope that they will be going on a full US tour this year. Woot! Stay tuned ... I'll try to keep an eye on this sort of news (and if any of y'all hear anything, please send it my way) and will do my best to spread the word. [Source]

Hot Dude Of The Week: Justin K

Now, I'm not sure what the temperature is like where you are in the world but I find it absolutely necessary to let y'all know that the weather is absolutely GORGEOUS here in SoCal today ... and has been all weekend. I cannot express how amazing it feels to enjoy this kind of weather so early in the year. This is only my second "winter" in LA and I'm still amazed at how quickly it goes away this early in the year. Naturally, the amazing weather allows the hot mens to lose their clothes in order to enjoy ... which fits in perfectly with our weekly gawk-fest of the Hot Dude of the Week. This week, in fine summery fashion, we get to say hello to Justin:

Now, I must say that it's not quite hot enough for swimming (in either the pool or the ocean) just yet but that doesn't mean that guys like Justin can't dress appropriately for the beach. Personally, I prefer when hotties like this wear less to the beach but a pair of board shorts can be sexy too ... especially when worn by a guy like this (who is playfully splashing water on you). So even if it's not quite warm enough where you are right now ... you can still pretend :) Enjoy!! [Source]

Raise The Roof

Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion kicked off her world tour recently (starting off in South Africa) and has made her way to the Land of the Rising Sun. Here are a few pics of Celine from her concert last night (local time) at the Tokyo Dome in Japan ... this is her first tour of the country in nine years:

Evidentially, Celine wanted to make sure that all 50,000 fans who came out for the concert could see that she adequately shaved her armpits for the occasion. I understand that Ms. Dion made sure that either her left arm or her right arm was raised high for at least 92.3% of the show. I would expect nothing less from the Greatest Singer in all the World. Bittersweet And Sour

Ashlee Simpson and Geffen Records have released the cover artwork for Ashlee's new album Bittersweet World ... check it out:

Blah ... color me unimpressed ... I mean, it's not a terrible photo but it seems really generic with really generic Photoshopping which makes me fear the album might sound really generic -- not that the cover artwork has anything to do with the content but still. I was really digging the visual vibe of the album a few months ago (the pic of Ashlee carrying a bigass boom box while wearing high heels that was featured on her site was pretty hot). I will deffo reserve judgment on the music itself until I hear it ... but I cannot believe this album artwork actually got approved for release. To be honest, I think the artwork for her single Little Miss Obsessive is more creative than the actual album artwork. [Source]

In unrelated news (except for the fact that Ashlee and Pete are makin' the sweet lurve together), Pete Wentz was spotted on the streets of NYC carting around his own luggage like a normal person ...

... tho it should be noted that this normal guy is carrying around a piece of luggage that is abnormally priced. This Louis Vuitton bag is priced at $1,185.00 ... which seems pretty pricy considering the bag is prolly packed full of Hanes underwear ($6.99 for a pack of 3), Clandestine t-shirts and jeans (free) and Converse shoes ($50.00). Love it!! [Source]

UF-OMG

Robbie Williams in his usual deadpan taking-the-piss-out-of-folks way has revealed publicly that he not only believes in extraterrestrial life but that he has seen UFOs on three separate occasions with his own eyes. Even better than that, he claims, he plans on studying the existence of life on other planets once he retires from making music:

It may seem a bit out of this world, but pop sensation Robbie Williams has revealed his next career move - he wants to become a qualified Ufologist. The Angels singer claims he has seen UFOs three times and plans to study alien and extra-terrestrial lifeforms once he quits pop music. The 34-year-old also revealed on the Jeremy Kyle show that he believes in ghosts which he said are "from another world." Robbie said his first UFO sighting was when he was a child in Britain while he spotted his second in Beverly Hills. He said the third sighting was just after he had written a song about alien contact. Interviewed on the show by Devon soul sensation Joss Stone, Williams said: "This big ball of gold light turned up. On my life." As for ghost sightings he goes on to say: "People will think I'm mental, which I am."

Now ... it's not usually very difficult to tell when Robbie Williams is joking but the man is very good as masking truth with fiction. I can believe that he could actually entertain the notion of extraterrestrial life really existing in the universe but he loses me when he claims that he plans on using his retirement to study alien life. I can also believe that the man is mental ... but that has nothing at all to do with this latest statement from him. Oh Robbie, you're still a cutie ... crazy or not ... I still <3 you! [Source]

In *somewhat* related news, Pink reader Maureen gave me the head's up that someone gave Pink is the new Blog a shout-out on the moon using Rolling Rock's Moonvertising website HERE. It appears that Ernie from NYC, NY was the culprit responsible for the lurve:

Yeah, there's not really a connection between this and Robbie's crazy UFO sightings revelation but they are both celestial in nature so I figured, what the hell. I think it's incredibly awesome that Ernie would give PITNB a shout on the moon ... and much love to Maureen for letting me know about it :) [Source]
