Ooh La La, La La La La

Is it really wrong to miss the old Kevin Federline from days of yore? I suppose I can appreciate that homeslice is trying to clean up his act ... I didn't mind so much the combed hair and neckties ... the sweater vests gave me pause but it was nice to see him trying. But this ... this is just a bit too much to take:

I don't even know what the eff this thing is. Is it seersucker? Is it a duster? Is it a jacket left over from Britney Spears' Dream Within A Dream Tour? Ack ... perhaps K-Fed should go back to the wife beater t-shirts that he used to be so fond of ... this new incarnation is hard to look at. [Source]

Both the New York Post and In Touch Weekly magazine have photos of Mel Gibson partying with a couple of ladies just a few hours before he was arrested for drunk driving in Malibu, CA last Friday night. According to both sources, Mr. Gibson was having a grand ol' time that night:

News of Gibson's rehab stint came as In Touch Weekly photos surfaced, capturing Gibson's passion for booze and blondes just hours before his arrest in Malibu, Calif. The bleary-eyed star was spotted at celeb-studded Moonshadows restaurant with a babe on each arm and a beer bottle in his right hand late Thursday and into the wee hours Friday. Revelers said Gibson admitted that he had been downing wine at a dinner party earlier Thursday. He then readily chatted with fans about everything from his movies to religion to his seven kids - and even called his wife of 26 years, Robyn, "a saint." "Mel had bloodshot eyes and looked drunk," Todd Hausberger, 29, of Phoenix told In Touch. "He was slurring his words" ... At 2 a.m., Gibson - who reinvented himself as a producer and director with the controversial mega-hit "The Passion of the Christ" - then decided it was time to head home, the mag said. "We all offered him rides, and he shrugged it off," Lesak said. Hausberger said he urged the star, who lives a few miles away, not to drive, but that Gibson responded: "No, I'm fine. I'll take care of myself." A Los Angeles Sheriff's deputy busted the Road Warrior in his 2006 Lexus going 87 mph in a 45 mph zone, shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday. A bottle of tequila was found in his car. Well ... I suppose rehab is a good first step ... but for Mel's safety and for the safety of the other drivers on the road at any given time, I really hope he is made to pay for this crime. Altho in Hollywood, celebs have an uncanny ability of getting off scott free. [Source, Source]

Uh oh ... is there trouble in paradise for our favorite trifecta? Here are a few pictures of Matthew McConaughey sneaking back from a bike ride that he took over the weekend ... alone:

Poor Jakey poo ... first, Heath and now, Matthew ... you just can't trust men at all. [Source]

In happy couple news, it appears that Alanis Morissette and Ryan Reynolds are back together after announcing their breakup in June! Clearly, any photographs of two celebrities in any sort of the close proximity must mean that they are dating and/or engaged:

Rocker ALANIS MORISSETTE and her ex-fiance, actor RYAN REYNOLDS, seem to have rekindled their romance after the reportedly split couple were spotted "rolling around" together during a romantic day out in a Vancouver, Canada park. The pair were planning a late 2006 wedding but reportedly ended their engagement last month (JUN06). A pal says, "Someone spread that rumour, but it's not true. They are still very much together." I cannot tell you how pleased I am at this news ... they make such a cute couple. Alanis would be cruiseazy to let go of a hottie like Ryan. I really hope they are together, that they remain together and never, ever separate again. Yay! [Source]

Here are a few more pictures from the wedding of Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock from the actual ceremony ... while it's nice to see that Pamela wore an actual dress for the ceremony, I gotta admit that I really liked the notion that she got married in a string bikini:

It's nice to see that Kid Rock was keepin' it real ... I can't imagine him getting married in anything but his finest Hanes t-shirt. Hey, at least it's not a wife beater t-shirt. [Source]

OMG! Are you ready for the cutest pictures ever?! Check out these adorable pictures of Gwen Stefani, little Kingston James and her parents Patti & Dennis Stefani spending a little time shopping together:

Seriously ... the picture of grandpa Dennis and little Kingston is just too freakin' cute. I absolutely love Gwen Stefani as a mom ... she's just so damn cool. [Source]

Speaking of cool moms, Angelina Jolie is back in the saddle again since the birth of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. Here is a picture of Angelina piloting her first airplane since giving birth:

It won't be long before Angelina is back to her regular schedule of jet-setting and World-saving. She'll just strap her new baby to her back, bring the other kids in tow (including Brad Pitt) and will be back in the refugee camps in no time. SuperAngelina to the rescue once again! [Source]

Here are a couple new pictures of Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz on vacation down in Hawaii ... it really looks like Cam is really into lovin' on JT ...

... tho he doesn't look at all impressed, interested or into it at all. Father, Father, Father help us/Send us some guidance from above/'Cause people got me, got me questionin'/Where is the love? [Source]

In case you were worried and wondering ... I think it's safe to assume that Lindsay Lohan is doing fine after her bouts with heat exhaustion and getting publicly bitched out by her boss ...

I really admire her strength and fortitude ... it must be agony to bravely leave one's sickbed after suffering such an ordeal. I don't know how you do it, Linds, but I salute you! [Source]

Here is a promo still from the new play Lobster Alice starring Noah Wyle and Nicholas Brendon that is running here in LA until September 3rd at The Blank's 2nd Stage Theater:

I am very excited to see this show. I managed to get tickets for the August 10th show. The play is set in 1946 during the six weeks that surrealist painter Salvador Dali spent hanging around the Walt Disney Studios. Noah plays Salvador Dali but I'm not sure who Nicholas plays. Click HERE to read the LA Times article that focuses heavily on Noah Wyle and talks up the play as well. [Source]

While most people are thrilled at Ashlee Simpson's new look (courtesy of her hush-hush/top secret nose job), it appears that the new editor of Marie Claire magazine isn't a fan. Ashlee appeared on the cover of Marie Claire earlier this year and in her interview went on and on about how important it is for people to love the bodies they have as they are ... and then she got a nose job right after that magazine hit newsstands ... in the new issue of MC (the one with Maggie Gyllenhaal on the cover), editor Joanna Coles gives expanded coverage in the letters section so that angry Marie Clare readers can have their say:

Ashlee Simpson appeared on the July cover of Marie Claire magazine extolling the virtues of appreciating one's body as it is -- then she had a nose job. Marie Claire readers erupted in fury at what they said was Ms. Simpson's hypocrisy and the magazine's "cluelessness." They wrote 1,000 letters in protest to the magazine, according to Joanna Coles, the new editor of the magazine. And she agreed with them. In the first issue (due Aug. 15) over which she exercises full editorial control, Ms. Coles gives expanded space in the letters column to readers to vent against Ms. Simpson. Ms. Coles adds in a note: "We're dazed and confused -- and disappointed -- by her choice, too!" Rare is the day when the editor of a women's magazine will openly criticize a celebrity. But Ms. Coles is planting a flag: A new Marie Claire is in town and it is making a clean break with its past. No girly goo, no teeny-bopper covers, no blind obedience to the traditional rules of the road. Wow ... this is a tough stance ... I guess we'll see if Marie Clare magazine can stick to its guns. I, for one, have no problem with Ashlee's nose job ... I think she looks great. Sure her hypocrisy is a bit jarring but I think it's safe to say that Hollywood is chock full of hypocrites. [Source, thanks Meghan]

Dannii Minogue is featured in the new issue of GQ magazine ... here are a few pictures from her photospread:

While I love Dannii to death, I'm not that impressed with these pics. She may look great in her bikinis but the paint splatters and neon colors are a bit lame. I think Debbie Gibson did this same photoshoot back in 1987 except with less bikinis and more hats. [Source]

Kate Moss is on the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine ... mainly because she tops their Best Dressed Poll ...

... but I think also because they couldn't find anyone else cracked out enough to wear that hat. Wait ... she's done with the drugs, right? Anyways ... celebs like Gwen Stefani, Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney also make the list for the World's Best Dressed ... but so did Condoleeza Rice so I'm not sure how much stock I put in this poll. At any rate, congrats to Kate for being the best dressed woman in rubber boots, white gloves and a funny fuzzy hat. [Source]

Here are a couple pictures of Pink readers wearing their, now out-of-print, Pink is the new Blog t-shirts ... Tracy is in the pink shirt at Disney World and Barbara is in the black shirt near the pink trash bin ... uh ... well, pink is the new everything it seems:

Thanks so much for the pictures ... I love 'em! [thanks Tracy and Barbara]

And finally, I have to send out lots of Birthday Lurve to MTV! Music Television turns 25 years old today:

MTV has really come a long way since it's birth back in 1981 ... while many people miss the 24 hours of continuous music videos (me included) many more still consider themselves fans of the network (me included). Today is a great day for reflecting on all the cool things unleashed upon the world by MTV (like the VMAs, Liquid Television, Spyder Games, The Real World (up to the Chicago season), Undressed, Fear, Laguna Beach, etc.) in celebration of MTV's birthday. Click HERE to read Better Than Fudge's 25 Reasons to Love MTV to remind you of a few of those really cool things.

El News:
Last night Jim and I had a great steak dinner where we stuffed our faces with Outback's awesome cheese fries before I met up with NY's own Ultragrrrl (and my homie g-dawgette) who is in town for a few days working with a couple of her bands from her record label Stolen Transmission. Last night I finally got to see The Oohlas live and in person ... here are a few pics:

I had the best time ever ... The Oohlas are so amazing live! I haven't been excited about new music in so long that I kinda forgot what it feels like to fall in love with a new band ... I might've fallen in love last night (I actually got that old Veruca Salt feeling). Greg Eklund and Ollie Stone's vocals are so sweet and lovely ... they sound amazing together. Ollie is the cutest frontwoman ever. I was very excited to meet her after their set ... I was shocked to discover that she reads PITNB. I got to hang out with Ultra, Ollie and my new friend Irene who I met last Fall here in LA. I almost pooped out last night and almost skipped out on this show ... I'm so glad I didn't. After The Oohlas played this other great band, The Ettes took the stage. They were amazing as well. I really miss going to shows like this ... I'm gonna have to try and make more concerts now that the music is so readily available here in LA.

DJ Ultragrrrl is spinning tonight at Safari Sams ... I'm planning on being there as well.

And that is all ... I'm out.
